2017 ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: SPAYED KOOLIE

Spayed Koolie is the powerhouse duo of David Dorr and Neal Phillips. While their focus has always been songwriting, they also bring their live talents to diverse venues, playing as their traditional duo or expanding the band to six pieces for bigger events. Spayed Koolie has even performed at huge events such as the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI), where Phillips’ song “Songwriter” received a standing ovation. Additionally, the duo has performed at Nashville’s Commodore Grille, and they’ve opened for Montgomery Gentry, Kellie Pickler, and .38 Special.

Between the two artists, Spayed Koolie is responsible for the writing of over 100 original songs. Dorr’s inspiration comes from his rollercoaster life, with his songs focusing largely on relationships. Phillips’ songs are on the lighter side, and his easygoing “Catholic Country Song” saw him listed as “One to Watch” by NSAI in March 2015. Whether heavy or light in subject matter, Dorr and Phillips are committed to writing the best songs possible, and selling or licensing them to be enjoyed by the masses.

It’s always a pleasure having Spayed Koolie perform at the Ocoee Founders’ Day Festival, and this year will be no different! Catch them live on stage Friday, November 3rd – it’s a sho you don’t want miss!
